KNYSNA NEWS - Slam FC's U15 development side was crowned the champion of the Oupad United Juniors Tournament this past Sunday after delivering a 6-0 victory over Hope FC in an entertaining final at Concordia Field.
The champions booked their place in the final after a strong semi-final performance, where they defeated hosts Oupad United 4-0, setting the tone for a dominant tournament run.
The U15 section of this year's competition featured six teams: Soso FC, Fast Eleven FC, Young Eagles FC, Oupad United, Hope FC and eventual champions Slam FC. In the U13 division, four teams participated in a smaller but competitive pool of fixtures.
From the opening whistle of the final, Slam FC displayed sharp attacking intent and disciplined structure, overwhelming Hope FC with pace and clinical finishing to secure a comprehensive victory and lift the trophy.
Slam FC head coach Athenkosi Mafele praised his players' progress and expressed confidence in the club's development pathway.
"The Slam development teams are going to be the best local junior teams. We are working in the right direction and we will continue bringing trophies home," Mafele said.
