SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Sedge United recently held its annual closing ceremony to mark the end of the 2023 season, commemorating and honouring the club's best players of the season.

The ceremony was held on 7 October and the club's captain, Zukisa Mtoli, was decorated beyond compare. He was named the Player of the Season, the Players' Player of the Season, as well as the Best Defender of the Season. 

"I am very excited with his performance," said Zukile Noziqaleni, chairperson of Sedge United. 

"I would like to thank the management for their hard work throughout the season. Players and our supporters, this team belongs to you; without your support we wouldn't be where we are now, thank you!!"

Further to this, managing director of Sedge United Jomo Phike expressed his gratitude for a special sponsorship they received. 

"Our vice-chairperson, Nkosinathi Lovi, approached Caltex van Halderen in Knysna requesting sponsorship for our team," he said. 

"On behalf of the team I would like to thank Caltex van Halderen management for their kindness and generosity by sponsoring us with two packs of bibs and three soccer balls, I don't have words to express my appreciation."
