PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Oriented Birds FC strengthened their title challenge in the Safa Eden Regional Men's League with a commanding 6-1 victory over Fast Eleven at the Lawaaikamp Stadium in George on Saturday afternoon.
In a tightly contested first half, which ended 0-0, both sides showed discipline and structure.
Fast Eleven held their shape well, absorbing pressure from the visitors, while Oriented Birds midfielders Avela Qondo and Bandile Ntukantu dictated play and created several attacking opportunities.
The breakthrough came in the second half when Siyamthanda Macakela opened the scoring for Oriented Birds, shifting momentum firmly in their favour.
Fast Eleven briefly responded, with Limile Mama scoring an own goal to make it 2-1.
However, their resistance collapsed under sustained pressure.
Sinethemba Bantyi converted a penalty to extend the lead to 3-1 before Macakela completed his hat-trick with a powerful finish inside the box.
Siyabonga Soduma added the fifth, and Macakela later sealed the emphatic win with his fourth goal of the match.
The result keeps Oriented Birds in second place on 51 points after 24 matches, maintaining pressure at the top of the table, while Fast Eleven continues to fight for a top-eight finish as the season intensifies.
