KNYSNA NEWS - Safa Eden Region president Siyabonga Chris Tyhawana says preparations are on track for the women's National Championship play-offs, to take place in Knysna from 15 to 20 October.
"The preparations are going very well, and let's not forget to thank the Knysna municipality for their commitment to this big event.
"It will be the first time that the town of Knysna hosts such an exciting event," Tyhawana said.
"Thank you to Safa Western Cape for entrusting my region with such a great event."
Loerie Park Sports Grounds
This year’s play-offs will take place at Knysna's Loerie Park Sports Grounds.
"Teams will be battling it out for the top two positions - eyeing gaining promotion to the National Hollywoodbets Women's League," Tyhawana said.
"The teams are, Group A - Ramatlaohli Ladies (Limpopo), Super Strikers (Mpumalanga), FC Raycon Ladies (Gauteng).
"Group B - Kovsies (Free State), Royal Wizards (Northern Cape). Group C - Sophakama Ladies (Eastern Cape), the host team University of Cape Town (Western Cape) and Ezemvelo Ladies (KwaZulu-Natal)."
Tyhawana said the teams would arrive in Knysna on Monday 14 October.
He said further on the national play-offs taking place in the Eden Region: "This is what the region needs more of when it comes to women's football - the district is sitting with many challenges, of women's clubs wanting to quit due to the financial burdens and constraints."
