PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - In an effort to steer youngsters away from drugs and alcohol, a soccer tournament will be hosted in Kwanokuthula in Plettenberg Bay next month.
The tournament, named Football Against Drugs, will see 32 teams competing.
"The aim of the tournament is to provide a healthy environment for youngsters to enjoy sport, while keeping kids away from drugs and drinking in taverns," the organising team said.
The tournament will be for youngsters under 17. The winning team will not only receive medals, but also a trophy and a full soccer kit. The second place team will also receive medals as well as R3 000 and four soccer balls.
There will also be prizes for the player of the tournament, midfielder of the tournament, the top goal scorer and the goalkeeper of the tournament.
According to the organisers, entertainment will be provided for spectators.
The tournament will be held from 23 to 25 June from 17:00 to 21:00 at the Kwanokuthula Stadium.
