PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The hard-working high school soccer team Concordia High fell short when they went down 0(3)-0(2) against Murray High School in the second semi-final of the Imizamo Yethu High School Sports Festival.
The game was played at the Thembalethu Stadium in George on Saturday evening, 17 May.
Aphelele Higa (Concordia High) gave a solid performance throughout the tournament.
In their first game, Concordia High defeated Thembalethu High 2-1 and in the second game they beat Hillcrest High (Mossel Bay) 1-0 in a nail-biting encounter.
Despite a promising start, the Knysna school faltered in the face of continuous pressure from Murray High.
Lakhiwe Menze was creating havoc among the Concordia High back line. Both teams were playing the ball on the ground.
No goals were scored in the first half, both sides having failed to convert some clear-cut chances during the first 15 minutes.

With everything to prove, both teams came on strong in the second half using their ball-handling skills to get into the box.
Two Murray High players who also play in the ABC Motsepe Provincial League, Lakhiwe Menze and Ikho Ntsuntsu, were applying their superior experience to beat back the Concordia team.
When the final whistle blew, there was no score on the board and they went straight to the penalty shoot-outs to determine the winners.
