FOOTBALL NEWS - Black Cats FC delivered a commanding performance on home soil on Sunday afternoon, securing a 2-0 victory over Paris United in their Safa Eden Regional Men’s League encounter at Lawaaikamp Stadium.
The Lawaaikamp-based side quickly asserted dominance, striking in the second minute. Xolani ‘Velaphi’ Mandla capitalised on a defensive lapse, finishing clinically to place the Black Cats under pressure with a 1-0 lead.
Paris United, who currently sits second from bottom on the log, responded with determination. Midfielder Sakhe Myali (16) played a key role in orchestrating play through the centre, as the visitors attempted to break down the Black Cats’ defence and find a way back into the match.
However, the Black Cats continued to look more dangerous, particularly on the flanks. Mphumzi ‘Scara’ Kalolo proved instrumental on the right wing, using his pace to trouble the Paris United backline.
Following an impressive solo run, Kalolo doubled the lead, making it 2-0.
Both sides adopted an attacking approach, frequently using width in their build-up play. Despite their efforts, Paris United went into the break trailing by two goals.
The second half saw a more determined Paris United outfit as they increased the tempo and applied sustained pressure on the Black Cats’ defence. However, their resilience and improved organisation were not enough to convert their chances into goals, while the Black Cats appeared comfortable managing the game.
The result lifts Black Cats FC to 10th position on the standings with 27 points after 18 matches. Paris United remains in the relegation zone with 13 points.
