PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Kwanokuthula outfit Oriented Birds FC blew their chances of extending their lead on the table when they went down 2-0 against newcomers Ammar Soccer Academy in an ABC Motsepe Provincial League encounter on Saturday 2 November at Mbekweni Stadium in Paarl.
Sitting with 7 points, the Birds - who have two wins from four fixtures, playing to a draw and losing their fourth match - top the log in Western Cape ABC Motsepe stream B, while Cape Winelands Region team Ammar Soccer Academy are in the bottom half of the table.
'Humble apologies'
Oriented Birds head coach Welcome Qalanto said on behalf of the management and the players that they "would like to send our humble apologies to all supporters for not bringing home maximum points" from the game.
He said the Birds players had tried their best but "the home team upped their game and won in the end".
When the Birds players went back to training, "they will reflect and try to rectify their (mistakes) and come out much better and stronger for the upcoming encounter at home against a very determined and stubborn Maties team", he said.
