GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Club cricket in the Garden Route is all set to get up and running again in the new year, with clubs returning to action across all SWD leagues this weekend.
The Premier League clubs will be without their allocated professional players as the Garden Route Badgers will host the Northern Cape Heat at Oudtshoorn in a must-win CSA 4-Day Competition clash this weekend.
With all but two clubs having played four games already, the Premier League is also still a wide open affair with third-placed George only four points off Pacaltsdorp United in first.
Knysna Cavaliers find themselves second coming into the new year, three points behind Pacaltsdorp, whom they face on Saturday in a top of the table encounter. Plett Pioneers are currently sixth, and face bottom of the log Harlequins Forces.
In Pool B in the Promotion League Sussex are leading the way followed by Thembalethu and Bongolethu. Pirates United are fourth, five points behind top spot.
In Reserve League Division 1, Kranshoek Cobras find themselves in third place in Pool B. Then in Reserve League Division 2, Pirates United B are still top of Pool A, ahead only on net run rate.
Cavaliers B drew level with Pirates B in the log standings on Sunday, when they earned a bonus point win over Cavaliers C. Pioneers B are currently third in Pool A.
Finally, in the Women's League Division 2 the Cavaliers are log leaders ahead of Sussex (second) and Thembalethu (third). Cobras are fourth while Pioneers currently sit in sixth place.
