KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Cavaliers produced a clinical run chase to defeat New Dawn Park Cricket Club by four wickets, while Sussex Cricket Club maintained their grip in the top spot with a 53-run victory over Union Stars II in weekend league action.
At New Dawn Park, the hosts posted 176 all out in 47.4 overs, built around solid contributions from Waydon Plaatjies (63) and Roberto Davids (50). Justin Meyer (3/30) and Josh de Kock (2/16) led the Cavaliers' bowling effort.
Cavaliers responded emphatically, reaching 177/4 in just 30.3 overs. JP Ellis struck 61, while Maurice White anchored the chase with an unbeaten 57.
Ruaan Stander added 31 not out as the visitors sealed a comfortable six-wicket win.
Log leaders Sussex were equally efficient, dismissing Union Stars II for 107 after scoring 160 all out in 33.1 overs.
Kevin Gibson top-scored with 50, while Ineal Arries claimed an outstanding 3/4. Franco Geldenhuys starred with both bat (25) and ball (3/29).
In other results, Union Stars I edged Pacaltsdorp United Cricket Club by seven runs after posting 249, while Harlequins Forces defeated George Cricket Club by five wickets.
