KNYSNA CRICKET NEWS - Knysna Cavaliers Cricket Club is making a call to all cricket fans in Knysna to come out in support of the side this weekend as they look to book their place in the playoffs of the SWD Premier League.
Cavaliers have been in rich form of late, and have won four matches in a row with bonus points, leaving them in a position to qualify for the playoffs.
This weekend, Cavaliers will be facing off with Harlequins Forces, who are one of the other teams in contention for the playoffs. Cavaliers currently lie in third place on the log, which is the second playoff spot available to clubs. The first playoff spot is second place on the log, and that currently belongs to George Cricket Club, whom Cavaliers defeated last weekend.
It’s a must-win for Cavaliers, as if they lose and Harlequins win, then Harlequins will go through to the playoffs and Cavaliers will be knocked out of the competition. Cavaliers 1st team captain JP Ellis is appealing to anyone in the Knysna community to come out and support them this weekend, when they lock horns with Harlequins at the Abbottsfield cricket field just outside Rheenendal, just behind Totties Farm Kitchen on the Rheenendal Road.
“We would really appreciate any support we can get from the community this weekend, as we are hoping to make it to the playoffs of the premier league for the first time in a long while,” Ellis said.
“Our match begins at 10:00 on Saturday, so please bring your friends and family along and come enjoy a great day of fun cricket.”
