CRICKET NEWS - The Premier League teams from Knysna Cavaliers and Plett Pioneers had a tough time in last weekend's round of club cricket, suffering losses to Union Stars 2 and Pacaltsdorp United respectively.
Last weekend was the second round of fixtures in the SWD Premier League, and Cavaliers travelled to Oudtshoorn for the second consecutive week to face Union Stars 2, following a first-week trip to Harlequins Forces which they duly won.
Pioneers, on the other hand, made the trip to George to take on defending Premier League champions Pacaltsdorp United, coming off a first-week loss to Union Stars 1 in Plettenberg Bay. Both matches were played on Saturday 11 November.
Cavaliers batted first at the Bridgton Sports Ground, and posted a modest total of 225-9 in their 50 overs.
This proved to be nowhere enough for them to defend, as a century from Union Stars 2's Tyrece Karelse led the way to a six-wicket win for his side. Over at the Cavaliers Pacs Oval in George, Pioneers were also tasked with batting first.

They however could only amass 92 before being bowled out. Pacaltsdorp United made light work of the chase, with a half-century from Blayde Capell guiding them to a 10-wicket victory.

Cavaliers C batted first against Pioneers C, blitzing their way to 166 all-out. With ball in hand they managed to bowl their visitors from Plett out for 109 to win by 57 runs.
