KNYSNA SPORT NEWS - Even though the weather was a bit of a dampner on proceedings, 137 runners climbed out of their warm beds to take on the 216th 5km Knysna parkrun on Saturday, 4 May.
The Knysna parkrun, which started four years ago, has been the go-to weekly 5km run for thousands of runners that come and go during their holidays while also being the staple-run for local runners come rain or shine.

The local runners proved this once again when, even though the weather was as cold and miserable as one could ask for, they crawled out of bed, laced up their tekkies and took to the beautiful course in search of some good times.
One such runner was Lwazi Budu who started out as a volunteer at the Knysna parkrun, and on 4 May ran his 37th parkrun in a new personal best time of 18:34, three seconds ahead of second-placed James Claxton.
While 22 runners ran brand new personal best times, there were only four of the 137 that took part who ran milestone parkruns, with Susan Sidebottom, Sharon Brown, Khetselo Dhludhlu, and Nikki Walter all completing their 50th parkruns on the day. The Knysna parkrun kicks off from the park next to the Loerie Sports Grounds on George Rex Drive every Saturday at 08:00, so be sure to turn out and enjoy a beautiful 5km route around Knysna.
