The three-day trail race is the first Old Mutual Wild Series event of 2016 and promises to be a tough challenge in a beautiful setting. It takes place in and around the Karkloof Nature Reserve, and the route includes off-road tracks through forests and grasslands, paths through misty forests and magnificent views while running along the Gilboa escarpment.
The opening stage will be 32km, followed by 42km on Saturday and another 32km on Sunday.
The event is hosted at the Bushwillow Camp, in the Karkloof Valley, KwaZulu-Natal.
The Old Mutual Wild Series events seek to raise funds for the protection of endangered species and to highlight their plight. The Karkloof Valley is the breeding ground of South Africa’s endangered Cranes: all three of South Africa’s Crane species are in decline due to the exploitation of their delicate habitat.
