KNYSNA NEWS - Ward 8 councillors Thando Matika and Aubrey Tsengwa organised a fun run in honour of the late Victor Molosi on Saturday, 4 May.
Molosi was a well-respected ANC councillor that was gunned down outside his home in July last year.
He was widely considered to be a pillar of the community and this is evident through various events organised by locals including marching to court opposing the granting of bail to the accused to men, celebrating his birthday, opening a play park or even the fun run.
More than 500 participants lined up on the start line. One of the oldest participants was 58-year-old Inasi Payi who told the Knysna-Plett Herald that the hurdles didn't bother him at all, "simply because this walk is nothing in comparison to what Molosi did for us". "I took part because of the love I had for that man and the love for the party he served," Payi said.

Milikhaya Klass and Ayabonga Xibiya came in first and second place respectively. The two friends belong to sports club Sisonke in Concordia and say their coach encourages them to always participate in development programmes in the area.
Councillor Tsengwa said the initiative of donating sports equipment and kits to sports clubs in the area was started by Molosi and that they saw it fit to name the fun run after him. "We have the talent, what is lacking, though, is the facilities in our ward to nurture, groom and grow it," the councillor said.
"We are actually planning to challenge the mayor to create facilities that can be instrumental in combating drugs and substance abuse and keeping our children off the streets."
For the first time since his death, Molosi's wife Nomonde, was seen in public attending an event in honour of her late husband. She also presented and handed out sporting equipment and kits.
