KNYSNA NEWS - On Sunday 21 January, 540 runners took to the start line for the Remax Coastal Knysna Heads Marathon.
These runners either took part in the 5km fun run, 10km, 21.1km half marathon or the 42.2km marathon.
Weather conditions made it extremely tough with a strong wind and very high temperatures.
The flat route ensured fast times and plenty of runners achieved their goal of qualifying for the Two Oceans and Comrades marathons.
The 42.2km title went to Lindile Tokota from Nedbank RC SWD (2:52:21), and in the female category Annatjie Botes from Nedbank RC SWD won (3:40:48).
The 21.1km was won by Lloyd Bosman from Nedbank RC SWD (1:12:07), and the female category was won by Melissa van Rensburg from Nedbank RC SWD (1:29:40).
The Knysna Marathon Club (KMC) would like to thank Remax Coastal for their amazing partnership in the event. Schalk van der Merwe and his team did an amazing job from planning to execution of the race.
They introduced a fun dance-off prize during lucky draws that got the runners dancing as well.
Also a special thanks to Coca-Cola, Powerade, Conrad Pezula, The Turbine Hotel, Tapas, Buco, N2 Lodge, Knysna Charters, Metelerkamps, East Heads Café, City Paint and Tool, the Knysna municipality, provincial traffic and all the other KMC members who helped on the day.
