KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna High School's 1st rugby team has written a new chapter in the school's sporting history, returning from the recent Patriot Sports Festival in Cape Town as the first Knysna High rugby team to complete a tour unbeaten.
"This landmark achievement is a reflection of the team's dedication, grit, and excep-tional cohesion on the field," said Kevin Johnson, subject head for CAT/RTT at Knysna High.
Facing strong competition from schools across the country, the team showcased a level of skill and unity that made their unbeaten run all the more impressive.
Adding to the school's rugby accolades, three standout players - Lithe April, Adrian Konstabel and Milani Lufele - have been selected to join the Rhino Touring Squad, a prestigious development team that will tour Italy and the Netherlands in October.
"Their selection not only honours their individual brilliance, but also underscores the quality of rugby being cultivated at Knysna High," Johnson said.
Springbok legend Breyton Paulse
Ahead of their historic tour, the team received a visit from former Springbok legend Breyton Paulse, who handed over their tour kits and delivered a message of encouragement.
"It was a truly unforgettable moment," said Johnson.
"His message ignited an extra spark within our players and set the perfect tone for this historic journey."
Support behind the scenes
The school thanked Dewald Walters of LARS and WE Properties, whose sponsorship of golf shirts, sports bags, caps and warm-up shirts helped ensure the team looked sharp and travelled prepared.
Big derby ahead
Knysna High is preparing for a major third-term derby against Alexander Road High School from Gqeberha, set to take place on Saturday 16 August.
After the match, a post-game braai and social will welcome ex-learners, parents and supporters to celebrate the day's sporting highlights and reconnect with the school community.
Knysna High School encourages parents, alumni and local sports fans to come out in full force.
