KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna's acting municipal manager, Dawid Adonis, has resigned and a new permanent manager is set to be selected soon.
The municipality announced late last week that Adonis, who has been acting municipal manager since December 2020, had submitted his resignation, which was accepted by Mayor Levael Davis on 10 February.
His last working day will be 25 February.
The municipality said in a statement that Adonis resigned to take up the position of municipal manager at the Cederberg Municipality.
It also said that Council still needed to appoint another acting municipal manager while the process of appointing a permanent municipal manager is underway.
The applications for the positions closed on 7 February and the selection process is expected to commence shortly.
Adonis was appointed in the acting position at an ordinary council meeting on 3 December 2020.
He succeeded Dr Louis Scheepers, whose second term came to an end on 11 December 2020.
He became the third acting municipal manager since the suspension of the municipal manager, Sithembele Vatala, in February 2020.
After Vatala's suspension, Council appointed Dr Michele Gratz as acting municipal manager on 13 February and her term was extended in May.
On 11 June, Scheepers was appointed as the acting municipal manager and his term was extended for another three months until 11 December 2020.
