GARDEN ROUTE POLITICAL NEWS - Following their announcement as the DA's mayoral candidates on Saturday 28 August in Riversdale, the team chosen by the DA to attract the most votes in the Garden Route in the next municipal elections ensured that they spoke as if from one mouth.
At the time of going to print, the George candidate was yet to be announced.
Dave Swart – Bitou:
"There is a very positive message from the DA especially to the man in the street. Five years ago, I was not involved in politics, but stood in a by-election. And here I am today, as the mayoral candidate. Thank you to the DA that encourages the man in the street to better themselves. I am that man in the street."

Grant Riddles – Hessequa:
"Toe ek in 2016 as burgemeester ingekom het, was ons munisipaliteit in 'n koalisie. Met die 2019 tussenverkiesing, het die DA die meerderheid in die raad gewen. Ons het verandering gebring. Werkloosheid is 7% en ons groei sedert 2014-2019, 25% onder die DA-stem. Dit is 'n voorreg en sal een bly om die party en die gemeenskap te dien."

Volgens hom sal 'n mens altyd 'n das aantrek by 'n geleentheid soos vandag. Vandag dra ek nie 'n das nie, want die DA-span is gereed om te werk om Mosselbaai verder vorentoe te vat."

Levael Davis – Knysna:
"Having formerly been a successful ward councillor, I look forward to learning and growing even more. Someone recently said to me that my task is like David taking on Goliath. My reply was that we all know how that story ended - Goliath fell. We are going to bring Knysna back to being among the top five municipalities in the country."
