“The massive flash floods caused serious damage to infrastructure. During this episode, signboards, pavements and road surfaces were uprooted,” said Msimanga in a statement on Wednesday.
“The SA Weather Services reported that 104mm fell around Silver Lakes due to a cloud burst that continued for approximately 60 minutes.”
Msimanga said the metro was already working to fix damaged infrastructure.
“We are in discussions with our roads and stormwater department to find sustainable ways to deal with similar future occurrences.”
Tshwane emergency services responded to several calls from residents stuck in vehicles at low water bridges and low-lying parking areas in the Silver Lakes area and at Hazeldean office park.
