• Lifman was a prominent figure in South Africa's alleged organised crime circles.
• He was facing multiple serious charges, including murder, attempted murder, money laundering, and gang-related offences.
• Lifman was involved in alleged underworld battles for the control of nightclubs.
• He had been charged with the murder of Brian Wainstein, who was gunned down in his Constantia home in August 2017.
• Lifman’s activities have been under scrutiny for years, and his name is frequently mentioned alongside other high-profile figures, such as Jerome 'Donkie' Booysen and Nafiz Modack, due to alleged involvement in gang networks and violence within the Cape Town area.
• Lifman was due to appear in the Western Cape High Court on Monday.
