Police confirm shootout at Montecasino

NATIONAL NEWS - According to Douglasdale police spokesperson Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, the incident took place at Palazzo Hotel in Montecasino but he could, however, not confirm whether the incident was an attempted hijacking and robbery.

He added that the victims had just arrived from OR Tambo International Airport. He said security guards at Montecasino spotted the suspects and approached the scene. The suspects then shot at the security guards who returned fire. He said the suspects fled the scene and abandoned the BMW X1 in Douglasdale as they fled on foot.

He said there were no injuries.
