NATIONAL NEWS - Several organisations are urging alleged rape victim Jennifer Ferguson to lay criminal charges against South African Football Association (Safa) boss Danny Jordaan.
The former African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament and singer has accused him of raping her 20 years ago at a Port Elizabeth hotel.
Jordaan’s legal team has refuted the claims, saying he is willing to face Ferguson in a court to prove his innocence.
The Commission of Gender Equality says the two opposing testimonies can only be tested in a court of law and urges Ferguson to approach the authorities.
The Commission’s Javu Baloyi says: “We support the angle that she has taken and it’s the best in terms of justice that everyone is vindicated through the court of law.”
Baloyi says that allegations of such nature are enormous and should not be taken lightly by being ignored.
