NATIONAL NEWS - Firearm amnesty started on 1 December 2019 and will run until 31 May 2020. Within this time frame anyone is indemnified from prosecution for possession of an illegal firearm.
This is also an opportunity to get rid of unwanted firearms in a legal manner.
An opportunity is also afforded to firearm owners who’s firearm licences expired and was late for renewal. Such persons may hand in their firearms with and expired license and apply for a new licence.
A firearm owner who wishes to re-apply for his/her expired firearm licence, must apply within 14 days after the firearm was handed in.
