NATIONAL NEWS - Parliamentarians who had spent three days interviewing 34 South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) board candidates, are on Tuesday expected to pick 12 people from that list to serve on the board.
The new board is expected to oversee the affairs of the public broadcaster once the five-member interim board’s term ends later this month.
Parliamentarians quizzed candidates about their knowledge of the Broadcasting Act, their thoughts on former SABC Chief Operating Officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng, and the broadcaster’s funding model.
Members of Parliament have been looking for 12 qualified people who will stand up to political interference and powerful executive directors.
