NATIONAL NEWS - KwaZulu-Natal emergency services have confirmed that four people were killed by lightning in three separate incidents over the weekend.

Three worshippers from the Shembe Nazareth Baptist Church died after being struck by lightning while close to 40 others were injured.

Emergency services spokesperson Robert McKenzie says in the first incident, the worshippers were under a tree during a service when lightning struck.

“On Saturday afternoon, sadly three people passed away and close to 40 people injured, when lightning struck a tree where the church service was occurring.”
