MOTORING NEWS - Let's face it - the resilient South African automotive market has a lot to be resilient about.
But one area that should continue to do well in the rest of the year is the SUV segment.
It has proved to be one area where sales are maintained and a number of manufacturers will be launching new models in 2019.
The 2019 fifth-generation Toyota RAV4 is set to launch in South Africa in March. Audi will introduce a new Q8 towards the middle of the year and sister company Volkswagen has indicated that South Africa can expect to see its new T-Cross before the end of the year.
Currently the best-selling SUVs based on Naamsa's latest monthly data are:
- Toyota Fortuner - 1 000 units sold (price starts at R477 600)
- Ford EcoSport - 679 units sold (starting price R254 950)
- Toyota Rav4 - 476 units sold (from R393 800)
- Volkswagen Tiguan - 448 units sold (from R412 000)
- Toyota Rush - 425 units sold (from R312 000)
- Mazda CX-5 - 408 units sold (from R398 300)
- Ford Everest - 371 units sold (from R467 100)
- Mazda CX-3 - 363 units sold (from R299 400)
