MOTORING NEWS - One of the very popular exhibits at last year's Collectors' Fair in Graaff Reinet was the Vintage and Classic Car Show.
The organisers from the Midland Car Club in Graaff Reinet have decided to host a similar event at this year's Karoo-lus Festival on 28 and 29 September, but aims to make it even bigger and better.
This year's show, which will be held at the Union High School sports fields, will also include selected modified cars, as well as vintage and classic motorcycles. An added attraction for the vehicles' owners will be a trip to see the fossils at Wellwood Farm near Nieu-Bethesda with the classic vehicles on Friday 28 September.
A light lunch will be provided, as well as a most interesting tour. Only a very short stretch of the drive will be on a gravel road, as the drivers will obviously want to be very careful with their beloved vehicles.
Last year, about 75 cars took part in the show. One of the organisers, Hannes van Jaarsveld, is hoping to at least double that number this year, especially with the inclusion of the modified cars and motorcycles. Already some entries have been received from as far afield as East London, Port Elizabeth and George.
The club hopes that the event will continue to grow in future years, and will look to tie in with other events running in the area.
Anyone who would like to book a place, or who would like more information, can contact organiser Cornie Jansen on 084 581 8225.
