MOTORING NEWS & VIDEO - The new Renault Koleos Dynamique oozes strength and beauty. What a vehicle. I am not especially familiar with Renault models, but boy oh boy, was I pleasantly surprised when I took this car for a spin! This SUV has the perfect balance between power, driving pleasure and beauty. My driving experience was unfortunately limited to a day, but I would gladly form a lifelong bond with the Renault Koleos.
First impression
What hits you first is the Koleos's style. It has sleek lines but looks muscular. You can really be a bit of a show-off in this vehicle. The face of the Koleos has a determined look. It seems to be saying, "I am going somewhere exciting and I mean business!" It boasts all-round LED lights with chrome strips and 18-inch alloy wheels. This gives the impression of an athlete ready to sprint from the blocks.
Entry
The keyless key card makes for effortless entering. You can open and close the car traditionally using the remote control, or you can leave the key card in your pocket, press a button on the door and the car will unlock. The vehicle locks automatically when you move away about three to five metres.
Inside
Class! With its leather seats (Dynamique) and soft ambient light, which you can adjust, you immediately feel at home. The interior is of a high standard. Luxuries include dual climate control, a cup holder which can cool or heat beverages, a six-way adjustable driver seat and steering wheel - strengthening your sensation of king of the road.
The centre console features a USB and auxiliary and a screen that shows the navigation and customised visual and comfort settings. The digital instrument panel can be adjusted.
The Koleos has a massive 465 litres of boot space with a tonneau cover and full-sized spare wheel. The back seats can be flattened quickly and easily to create even more space.
Driving experience
What a pleasure. The engine is soft but powerful. The 2,5-litre engine with its 126kW and 233Nm of torque is extremely responsive without any noticeable lag. Driving up the Outeniqua Mountain Pass is a breeze. Around the bends the car is sturdy with a firm grip. The road and engine noise are barely noticeable, making conversation a pleasure.
The engine has two modes, normal mode with full power and the petrol saving ECO mode.
Safety features
The Renault Koleos has ABS, electronic stability control, electronic brake-force distribution, curtain airbags, blind-spot warning system, tyre pressure monitor and Isofix-3. A mouthful, but in layman's terms you can feel extremely safe driving this car.
Peace of mind
The Renault Koleos comes with a 5 year / 150 000km warranty or 5 year / 90 000km service plan. Contact Joh Swierczynski or Jason Turner of Renault at Seaman's Motor Group, George in Langenhoven Street on 044 873 2039 for more information about this stunning vehicle.
Summary
This is a great car. It has more than enough space for a family and has all the luxuries to make you feel special. Lots of power and the safety features provide peace of mind without breaking the bank.
