MOTORING NEWS - The year started with a bang for GWM with the launch of the second generation Haval H2 in January.
CarMag was invited to the South African launch at the Iconic Arabella Golf Estate near Hermanus - the ideal setting to showcase the new SUV. Among the top three selling SUVs in South Africa, it had a facelift and now boasts a new hexagon grille, bumper and fenders, and sports the Haval branding on the arrow headlights.
The design is more dynamic, sporty and aggressive, with extensive chrome strip inserts and a larger twin exhaust system.
Growing force
The Haval brand is growing fast and is a force to be reckoned with in the South African vehicle market. The monthly sales have increased from 34 units per month in 2017 to 464 in 2019, totalling 7 235 units retailed in two years and seven months.

Luxury comes standard
The Haval H2 has all the luxury you want to feel like a king. The first impression is one of quality. The centre console adopts the popular piano-lacquer materials, atmospheric lighting and many other features to create luxurious comfort. The panoramic sunroof (Lux model) and sporty-looking seats add that special touch. Although the H2 is a small SUV, it is ergonomically designed to allow easy access and exit.

The high-efficiency and energy-saving engine provides outstanding sporting performance. The 105kW maximum power output and 202Nm peak torque output explode with instantaneous power on demand. The sophisticated SUV suspension enables the vehicle to give a solid performance on a winding road.
Safety and pricing
The Haval H2 comes standard with six airbags and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that detects any tyre anomalies, thus increasing safety. It also has keyless entry. The Haval H2 has an impressive NCAP 5-star rating.
