The youth was assisted by the SAPS, Community Police Forum, Youth Desk, Councillor Rickey van Aswegen, Pastor Burton Spies and the Knysna Municipality. According to the attendance register, 124 youths attended the Hornlee Integrated Stakeholder Forum’s community dialogue. Van Aswegen said he hoped that the event will be the beginning of positive change in Hornlee.
The programme director, Michael Smith told the youth that the time when people could just close their eyes to crime was over. “We are all facing the possibility that the dangers of crime and drug related activities will have an influence on our lives.”
The youth divided into groups to discuss solutions to stop crime and drug abuse.
