SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Sedgefield's Young Boys extended their lead at the top of the Knysna Local Football Association (KLFA) Promotional League with a dominant 4-0 win over Voota FC at the Loerie Park Stadium in Knysna last Sunday, 15 June.
The league leaders wasted no time asserting themselves in the game.
Liyema Tyosi was in brilliant form, scoring a brace, while Endinako Khulu and Siyabonga Mfene added one goal each to seal the convincing win.
Tyosi was particularly outstanding, proving to be a constant threat to the Voota defence throughout the match.
From the opening whistle, the Young Boys controlled the pace of the game, especially in the midfield.
They moved the ball well and pressed high, forcing errors from the Voota backline. Centre-back Songezo Mthontiso worked hard in defence for Voota, but the pressure was relentless.
By half-time, Young Boys had already put three goals past Voota, going into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead.
Second half
The second half saw more composed play from both sides, with Young Boys showing excellent touches and movement.
Despite a more organised Voota defence, the Young Boys added a fourth goal following a well-worked move from midfield.
Voota FC tried to fight back, but couldn't break through Young Boys' solid defence. With this result, Young Boys now sit comfortably at the top of the table with 60 points from 24 games, including 19 wins, three draws and only two losses.
Voota FC, meanwhile, are struggling near the bottom of the standings, currently third from the bottom with just 14 points.
It was a confident and clinical display by Young Boys, who now edge closer to the Promotional League title with just a few games remaining.
