KNYSNA NEWS - A woman was killed in an accident in Hornlee during the weekend after she was struck by a car that was travelling along Sunridge Street.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, the woman was crossing the street when the incident occurred at 06:00 on Saturday 30 October.
"Information gathered from the scene indicates that 44-year-old Charmaine Solomons was crossing the road when she was hit by a maroon Datsun (sedan)," Spies said.
The vehicle then veered off the road and ploughed through the gate at the entrance to Knysna Secondary School.
According to Spies, Solomons was declared dead by paramedics on the scene. "Knysna police have opened a culpable homicide docket. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined. An autopsy to determine the cause of death will be conducted early this week," Spies concluded.
