KNYSNA NEWS - The second naked body of a young woman in as many weeks was found this morning, Tuesday 28 September, this time in Dam se Bos.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, Knysna police have opened a murder docket after the woman was found in Dam se Bos this morning.
"The naked body of a woman, believed to be in her early twenties, was found floating in a dam at the forest next to the N2 highway at about 10:00," Spies said.
He added that preliminary investigation reveals that a member of the public was working in the vicinity when she made the discovery. "Emergency personnel were alerted and dispatched to the scene. The body, with an open wound to the neck, was later retrieved by police divers," Spies explained.
The motive for the killing is yet to be determined and the circumstances surrounding her death are under investigation.
"An autopsy to determine the cause of death will be conducted later this week. The investigating officer appealed to the public to come forward with any information which could assist the police to trace the next of kin of the victim. Any other information which could assist the police with this probe would also be valued," Spies said.
