SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Newly established, independent tourism entity Sedgefield Information recently held their first meet and greet session, where members were provided with valuable information on its festive season operations.
The event on Friday 27 January provided members of Sedgefield Information with some insight into its operations between 3 December 2022 and 9 January.
The Sedgefield Information office saw no less than 1 361 people walk through its doors over the festive period, of which 1 144 were SA nationals, 165 were locals and 52 were international visitors.
The staff also surveyed these and other visitors to ascertain what activities and spots are most popular in Sedgefield during the festive season. Perhaps not so surprisingly, paragliding proved to be the favourite pastime, followed by stand-up paddling.
Gericke's Point was another favourite, along with going on beach and/or forest hikes, and visiting the Sedgefield markets.
Feedback was also provided on the positive growth of their Facebook page, the success of their newly launched website – www.segefieldinfo.com – as well as upcoming projects that Sedgefield Information is undertaking.

Establishing Sedgefield Information
Sedgefield Information was started in mid-November 2022 by Sedge locals Belinda Hobson and Bronwyn Lloyd. Hobson had previously worked in and/or operated Knysna Municipality's old Visit Sedgefield office until it was closed by the municipality in mid-2018.
Sedgefield resident Jurgens van der Walt then reopened an independent Sedgefield Info office that operated until early 2019.
Since then, Sedgefield has been without its own tourism office and the Slow Town's tourism was handled by the Visit Knysna office in Knysna. This did not best please Sedgefield residents as they felt they were being left behind, and cries for their own tourism office started ringing out around Sedgefield.
Late last year, Hobson and Lloyd took matters into their own hands. They roped in the help of former Visit Sedgefield employees Chaise Reeler and Henwill Kortje, who together with Hobson and Lloyd now make up the Sedgefield Information team.
They operate out of an office adjacent to Cycleworx Sedgefield in the Main Service Road in Sedgefield, just off the N2. The office can be reached via email on admin@sedgefieldinfo.com or by calling 074 456 2253.
