PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plettenberg Bay is once again in the running for a prestigious global award – this time for the perfect location for couples to tie the knot.
The town has been nominated for the 2020 Global Wedding Awards, which acknowledge the companies, individuals, enterprises, venues and destinations that cater for the union of lovers.
The awards is hosted by LUXlife Magazine and aims to seek out the crème de la crème of every aspect of the wedding industry, from stationery designers and wedding planners to wedding dress designers and children's entertainers.
Plett Tourism spokesperson Patty Butterworth said the wedding industry is big business in Plett. "It's filled with dedicated individuals who tirelessly create memorable events for their clients, showcasing our beautiful town and offering show-stopping décor, catering and views. The venues in Plett are incredibly diverse, from sandy beaches to intimate vineyard ceremonies," Butterworth said.
"The wedding industry is also big business for the Garden Route region, and since weddings involve such a wide variety of vendors, the industry has a tremendous ripple effect. In addition to the fact that weddings bring thousands of people to the area every year, most are also spending money on accommodation, at restaurants, on activities and more. With hundreds of weddings on the calendar, the economic impact of the wedding industry on Plettenberg Bay is substantial."
Those nominated for the 2020 Global Wedding Awards are under the LUXlife microscope. Awards are based on merit, not the number of votes received. They reward parties based on their excellence in the industry, the quality of their products and their dedication to service. To move successfully from nominee to winner, there must be evidence of extensive expertise and skills, dedication to customer service and client satisfaction with an ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation.
