KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna municipality has asked residents of Knysna, especially those in Concordia, to use water sparingly while technical teams attend to water supply interruptions and drops in pressure currently experienced by residents.
In Concordia a technical team is currently busy with repair work on the Concordia water pumps, and this is causing the reservoir to run low as well as lowering pressure within the system. The municipality could not supply a timeframe as to when water pressure would return to normal.
For the second day in a row residents and businesses on Thesen Island have also had to deal with either no or very limited water supply.
According to the municipality the area is currently without water following a break in their water system. A team is reportedly working feverishly to repair this new leak.
“The water to the CBD and Thesen Island was restored last night (Wednesday 22 November). Unfortunately a leak on the restored pipeline was detected during the night. Our team has now managed to reroute water to the CBD,” said the municipality.
A post on the municipal Facebook and Twitter page stated that each individual report of sporadic water outages is being investigated. “The situation now is that, as the break on the Thesen Island pipeline is in a difficult place, it is difficult to estimate a time for the completion of the repair,” said the post, which was also confirmed with the municipality by the Knysna-Plett Herald.
