GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The cast of the award winning film Vuil Wasgoed will soon be visiting Plettenberg Bay and Knysna.
The film recently won five awards at the kykNET Silwerskerm Festival in Camps Bay, and was released nationwide in theatres on 8 December.
Wim, played by Afrikaans singer-songwriter and TV presenter Bouwer Bosch; and Kevin, played by writer and director Bennie Fourie have been dreaming of their own coffee shop for years, but while they wait for their dream to come true they temporarily work in a laundromat.
The problem is ‘temporarily’ has become seven years and the highlight of their existence is still borrowing their clients’ clothes to gate-crash parties at night.
The system works well. Kevin is even close to kissing the love of his life, until a crooked jewel merchant is betrayed, his finger is chopped off and the finger ends up in a jacket pocket at the laundromat.
Against their will, Wim and Kevin are dragged into the dangerous criminal world.
Close on their heels are two brothers with a rash, a blind henchman, two top detectives and a ruthless traitor.
And somewhere, there’s a shipping container with a valuable treasure waiting to be pounced on by everyone.
Vuil Wasgoed was written by Bennie Fourie; produced by Danie Bester, Bennie Fourie and Bouwer Bosch; and directed by Morné Du Toit.
The cast comprises of amongst others Bennie Fourie, Bouwer Bosch, Tim Theron, Stiaan Smith, Nico Panagio, Charlie Bouguenon, Simoné Nortmann and Leandie du Randt Bosch.
Vuil Wasgoed won the awards for Best Director (Morné du Toit), Best Editing (Quinn Lubbe), Best Actor (Bennie Fourie), Best Production Design (Merishen Wessels) and Best Sound Design and Original Music (Benjamin Willem) at the Silwerskerm Festival 2017.
The film has also been accepted to screen at the Portland International Film Festival.
