KNYSNA NEWS - The chairperson of the board of the Vermont Centre in Hornlee has announced that their recently-held annual general meeting (AGM) has been declared null and void after it was 'terribly disrupted'.
Notice of the meeting, the centre's 25th AGM scheduled for 28 July at 17:00, was published in a local advertising publication on 8 July. It was to be held at the hall at the centre.
"We regret to inform you that the board has to announce that this AGM was once again terribly disrupted, beyond measure," the centre's board said in a press statement.
"Regrettably the agenda, audit reports, as well as the institutional reports were not respected and dealt with in the procedurally correct manner. Disruptions of these meetings seemed to have become habitual over the years. Therefore the ongoing ill-discipline and disruptions during this meeting led to unconstitutional proceedings, which the board distantiate themselves from."
According to the release, the centre has notified the Department of Social Development. The board did not disclose the way in which the meeting was disrupted, neither why or by whom.
