SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Minutes after the brutal attack on a 67-year-old Sedgefield woman, police arrested a 50-year-old man in connection her death.
This is according to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie.
He said preliminary investigation suggests the victim was allegedly attacked on Saturday 2 February on the sidewalk in front of her house at 16 Marigold Street by the suspect who was reportedly armed with a hammer.
Police found the body of the deceased on the sidewalk, covered in blood after having already succumbed to her injuries, including a blow to the head,
Pojie added, and that an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the possible cause of death. The motive for this attack is still being investigated.
Two cases of malicious damage to property have been added to the murder case, Pojie said, after the suspect allegedly assaulted and damaged the vehicles of members of the public who were first responders to the scene.
The suspect is due to appear in the Knysna Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Tuesday 5 February.
