PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Swift response to information about a business robbery ensured that two suspects were put behind bars and a stolen firearm was recovered in Kwanokuthula in Plettenberg Bay on Friday 25 February.
An investigation into a business robbery in Skhosana Street, Kwanokuthula the previous day, where an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen, took a team of investigators to a house in Tambo Street at about 04:30 where a 17-year-old was arrested.
Further investigation took the team to another residence in the same area where a 16-year-old was also arrested. Following a search of the residence police found an unlicensed firearm.
Both suspects appeared in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's Court on Friday afternoon on a charge of business robbery. The 16-year-old is also facing a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
They were remanded in custody and the case was postponed to 30 March.
Meanwhile, police traced the 55-year-old firearm licence holder of the recovered handgun. The man was also arrested and is facing charges with regard to the safekeeping of a licenced firearm. He will appear in court once charged.
Western Cape police management lauded the team for the successful investigation.
