TSITSIKAMMA NEWS - Two people lost their lives this morning in an accident on the N2 between Humansdorp and Plettenberg Bay. Two others sustained severe injuries and are undergoing treatment.
According to Eastern Cape Department of Transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose, the accident occurred shortly before 08:00 this morning at the Witteklip Bridge.
"A Mini Cooper with one person (male) from Humansdorp direction heading to Plettenberg Bay collided with a Hyundai with three occupants (two males and one female) from Plettenberg Bay heading to Humansdorp," Binqose explained.
The Hyundai which was involved in the accident.
"Two occupants from the Hyundai (male driver and female passenger) died on impact." The driver of the Mini Cooper and the second passenger passenger in the Hyundai sustained severe injuries and were transported to hospital in Kareedouw for medical attention.
A Mini Cooper was also involved in the accident.
The cause for the crash still unknown at this stage, and a case of culpable homicide has been opened at the Stormsriver Police Station for further investigations.
