PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - A tree fell onto the high power lines at New Horizon, shortly after 13:00 today (Tuesday 9 April), causing an extensive power outage in Plettenberg Bay.

High winds and heavy rains have affected the stability of trees in the area, according to Ina Olivier of the PBCPA.

Bitou municipality officials have been dispatched to the area and are investigating.

There is no indication for how long the power supply will be affected.

Bitou communications said: “We regret to inform you that Bitou Municipality is currently experiencing a power outage due to issues on the ESKOM side, without giving reasons.”

ESKOM technicians are working to resolve the problem, however, at this time, we do not have an estimated time for restoration of power.

“We understand the inconvenience this interruption may cause, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience it may have brought to you. We will keep you updated on any developments regarding the power restoration.”
