KNYSNA NEWS - Idols SA runner-up Mthokozisi Ndaba and Knysna rap sensation Arab visited Percy Mdala High School on Wednesday, 25 April as part of their giving-back initiative that is targeting learners and empowering them to stay in school.
The learners who were gathered at the assembly screamed their lungs out when these two talents took to the stage and had them singing and dancing along to their hits.
Ndaba, who didn’t have an easy upbringing, said growing up he always found school to be a haven, “I’ve always loved the school uniform and how it brings about oneness. For me, this is where everything begins and it gives me so much joy to empower the youth through the one thing I love more than anything – music – to stay in school.”
Knysna-born Ashley Bongani Miles who has made a name for himself as "Arab" said, “I really appreciate the love and support I get from my people and this is my way of giving back through music, through language they understand.”
Arab "spitting" a few rhymes.
Simamkele Zwayena, one of the learners from the school who enjoyed the perfomances, said, “What is really inspiring is seeing one of your own making it and just proving that it is possible and that our dreams are valid. We love their music and appreciate them even more for coming back to empower us.”
