KNYSNA NEWS – On Saturday 1 April, the SANParks Honorary Rangers' Serenade in the Forest open-air concert was held under the canopy of the Big Tree in Diepwalle.
The symphony serenade was one of many fundraising events to support SANParks with urgently required equipment and further education.
Under the guidance of chairperson Sabine Schukai, 20 Honorary Rangers helped to co-ordinate the event, greatly contributing to the evening's great success.
More than 300 supporters attended the symphony to enjoy the fine music selection and the treats from their picnic packs.
The programme began with a moving saxophone arrangement from Jaco Krieg as guests were welcomed to their seats, followed by a performance from soprano Marike Laranjera and tenor Pierre van der Westhuizen, a duo that has previously performed in Somerset West.
Thereafter the audience was treated to the symphonic musical stylings of Throy Petersen who played both the cello and piano and Stephan Conradie on the violin. For the highlight of the evening, all the acts came together to deliver a heart-warming closing performance.
A donation was made to the cause by Chiefs Tented Camp, a temporary glamorous tented camp near Diepwalle.
During the event an announcement was made that the Knysna Enchanted Forest Camp will be launched in November.
The Knysna Enchanted Forest Camp promises to be a unique and iconic tourism event.
A raffle was also hosted during the festivities of the evening with wine for the raffle being sponsored by Sowe Brands. With the success of the symphony and the overwhelming support that the event garnered, SANParks Honorary Rangers hope to host another one of its kind in the future.
