KNYSNA NEWS - After a successful spa treatment day for the elderly residents of Hornlee and the residents of the suburb's Vermont Old Age Home, held at the Hornlee Civic Centre on Wednesday 26 February, the CEO of the NPO Changes for Knysna, Charmaine Sinclair, has called for more elderly people to attend their next spa day, also to be held at the Hornlee Civic Centre, on Wednesday 26 March.
Sinclair said on the Wednesday the NPO provided treatment to elderly women and people living with disabilities.
Enjoyed treatment immensely
The elderly residents had enjoyed the spa treatment immensely.
At the next event, the NPO also planned to offer treatment to elderly men.
"The plan is to carry out this initiative in Sedgefield, Karatara, Brakenhill and other places as well."
Bring change
She said the NPO's objective was to bring change to people's lives by assisting those in difficult situations, including by providing them with food, and further, assisting young people who had dropped out of school.
They were also aiming to assist women in need of overnight shelter, by providing them with temporary shelter.

The NPO was started in 2024, when it began to help struggling women and pensioners.
'We started at my house'
"We started at my house with five ladies and we grew from there onwards.
"Changes for Knysna is working very closely with our stakeholders, the SAPS and Badisa, which is an organisation that provides social services and residential care to vulnerable people, FAMSA, pastors, Nellerine Williams, our spiritual leader, and other organisations," Sinclair said.
Decided to 'go big'
"Every Wednesday I bring in a different stakeholder to speak to our people and listen to their needs, and out of that we have helped a lot of households.
"This year, I decided to 'go big' because what I realised was that our older people really need some help and a touch of appreciation."
She said Changes for Knysna would like to thank all the stakeholders who take part in their monthly spa days.
