KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Oyster Festival was a successful and enjoyable event for all involved. To celebrate 40 years of the festival, travel blogger Rose Bilbrough created the Knysna in my Shoes campaign to give back to the festivalgoers who made it special.
The campaign encouraged festivalgoers to post pictures of their shoes around Knysna's landmarks and destinations.
This year's winner was Gemma Gelling, a Cape Town native and avid cyclist/runner. She learned of the competition early in the festival week and received a Facebook message on 12 July stating she had won the prize.
Gelling, who has been attending the festival since childhood, praised the atmosphere, events and experiences. Her winning picture was taken by her mom, Linda, as one of the Ocean Sailing Charters' yachts happened to be sailing by, capturing the moment.
Gelling says some of the things that make the festival a favourite for her are the dedication and love of the organisers and the general atmosphere at the event.
The winning photo was taken just at the right moment to include the yacht sailing past.
