SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Sedge United Football Club delivered a clinical performance on Sunday afternoon, 29 June, as they swept aside FC Porto from Rheenendal with a 4-0 victory in a KLFA Promotional League fixture at Smutsville.
After a goalless first half marked by midfield battles and tight defending, Sedge United exploded into life in the second half.
Yonela Veyi broke the deadlock with a composed finish, sparking a surge of confidence from the home team.
Aron Banda then netted a brilliant brace, showcasing his speed and clinical finishing to put the match beyond reach. Bagcina Themba added a fourth late on, rounding off an emphatic win.
Goalkeeper Sive Sobhuza kept a clean sheet with a solid performance between the posts, anchoring a defence that held firm under pressure. Sedge United's speed on the flanks and sharp passing through midfield proved too much for the visiting side.
With this victory, Sedge United climbed to third on the log with 61 points from 28 games. FC Porto, who sit just outside the top four, were left chasing shadows for most of the second half.
