KNYSNA NEWS - Sebastian Swart, a Grade 11 pupil at Knysna High School, was awarded his Eden colours when he was selected for the Eden Duathlon Team as part of the Sprint Duathlon Men's squad, which will take part in the SA Duathlon Championships later this year.
Sebastian's great passion is actually the triathlon. He was only 12 years old when he competed in his first triathlon.
After Sebastian had completed just two triathlons, he went to the South African Championships, where he had to swim in the open sea for the first time.
Up to that event he had only swum in rivers.
When they landed in Durban for the event, his father, Jean, told him about rip tides and how to ride waves.
Sebastian fell in love with the sport then, and has never looked back.
Sebastian's medium-term goal is to compete in the SA Triathlon Championships and the African Championships in the upcoming triathlon season, so that he can be selected to tour Germany in 2025.
Sebastian's long-term goal is to participate in the 2028 Olympics.
