KNYSNA NEWS - Alleged death threats have surfaced in ANC circles in Knysna, with the Knysna municipality calling in the SAPS to investigate the matter, and describing the situation as “sensitive".
SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies has confirmed that two cases of intimidation were opened at the Knysna Police Station on Thursday, 24 April.
“Investigation into these matters is still underway. SAPS is not at liberty to divulge the particulars of the complainant/s,” he said.
The alleged threats, contained in voice notes in isiXhosa and allegedly aimed at Knysna mayor Thando Matika, according to a news release from the ANC Youth League, were circulated on Wednesday 23 April.
The result was that a budget Integrated Development Plan meeting, scheduled in Ward 8, that was to be addressed by council Speaker Mncedisi Skosana and Matika, was postponed.
